2010 National Youth Series

16/06/10

2010 NZ Youth Series (NZYS)

These races are for the K age groups; however other older age group racers may enter in order to obtain National points within their age group.  Separate categories will be established for any of these racers that are not in the K age group.

In 2010 the RAL events will also double as the “2010 NZ National Youth Championships”

Awards will be given to “2010 NZ National Champions” from the RAL event and to the series winners in each discipline and an overall award in each gender.

Each year 9 races will be run, 1x SL, 1x GS & 1x SG in each of 3 locations. 2010 races will be at Mt Hutt, RAL and Cardrona. Venues may change from year to year, but the format will remain constant.

Start Order: First are the K1 girls, then K2 girls, then K1 boys and finally the K2 boys. J age groups will follow, Girls first then Boys. Start order as per K age group.

Seeding for the first race of 2010 will be based on series points from the 2009 season. A random draw will be held for the top 15 points holders.  The rest will follow in 2009 points order. A random draw will be held for all other racers with no points from last year.

For subsequent races, 2010 NZYS points will be used for selecting the top seed (15). There after in points order. Those with NZYS points start ahead of those with just FIS or National points followed by random draw for those with no points.(discipline specific).

NZYS points (using the World Cup points system) will be awarded for each race. Each race will also qualify for ‘national’ points allocations.

FIS and National points will be treated as equal for all matters. (Start order, calculations

NZYS points from each race will be added to obtain the series winner, using the best 2 results from the series. (Discipline specific). (In the event of a tie break, national points standing will be used to decide the winner.)

The ‘overall’ award will be calculated by adding together the ‘per discipline results’.

Any lost events can be rescheduled at the next venue (if practical)

Race and Equipment rules apply for each event, as per the FIS rules for ‘Children’s’ events.

Competition structure will stay in place until end of the 2013 season (4 years).   Only “very minor” rule changes will be permitted if deemed necessary by ALL coaches (in 100% agreement) at the end of any season.

NZYS points standings, National Championship results and National points can all be used as criteria for selection purposes.
