After the first third of the Alpine season (10/34 men's events and 9/33 ladies' events), the current shooting star Carlo Janka (SUI) may have lost his lead in the overall World Cup standings in Val d'Isère where he failed to finish all three races, but still maintained top position in the prize money rankings with total earnings of CHF 155'500. With that Janka ranks ahead of Benni Raich who too has surpassed the CHF 100'000 milestone by 9'250. On the ladies' side, Lindsey Vonn is narrowly ahead of current World Cup leader Maria Riesch with CHF 106'500 vs. 106'000, respectively.

And there is more in store this weekend as the ladies have a three-race weekend in Val d'Isère including the season's first super combined, and the men begin their Italian tour in Val Gardena/Gröden followed by Alta Badia and on to Bormio directly after Christmas.
