Development
Weekends, school holidays and some mid week race days.
Programme begins July 5th and ends October 11th.
Requirements:
· K1 – aged 11 – 12, born years 1998 – 1999
· K2 – aged 13 – 14, born years 1996 – 1997
· J1/2 – aged 15+ , born 1995 or before
· SRNZ National license. www.skiracing.org.nz
· Confident skier that can do parallel turns on advanced terrain
· Independent in the mountain environment
Equipment:
· Skis – One pair each; Slalom and Giant slalom are required.
· Boots - Junior race boots with proper fit and alignment.
· Ski Poles - Proper length
· Goggles – Properly fitted
· Helmet – CSA approved with full shell ear cover.
· Speed Suit
· Slalom Protections – pole, shin and chin guards

On-Snow Objectives:
Being a weekend programme, the main objective is spend as much time on snow as possible each day. At this level athletes are learning how to compete in ski racing. This still involves improving their technical skiing base, and also tactical skills are introduced. For athletes who didn’t participate in the Entry programme learning race rules and other aspects of ski racing may be required. Athletes attend Regional races in the North Island.
Off-Snow Objectives:
To create an awareness of fitness and how it relates to ski racing. Enhance skills using tools like video. Develop teamwork and fun activity. Off snow activities are primarily weather driven.
