Freestyle/Snowboard

RUAPEHU FREESTYLE PROGRAM

Ruapehu Freestyle has some of the best coaches and one of the most comprehensive programs in New Zealand. With our large technical natural terrain and season long training, many of the country's best riders started here on their path to the top and the National Team.

The program's focus is on high-end rider improvement and competition in Slope Style, Half Pipe, Big Mountain and Skier/Boarder X.

The coaches create a fun, safe, friendly, "team" environment in which athletes can improve with guidance and support.

Training

Skier/Boarder X training covers starts, choosing the best line, maintaining speed and passing. Big mountain training teaches you to ride a smooth fluid line in challenging terrain. Half pipe and Slope Style training includes trick development and run creation. We also help athletes with mental preparation and focus and use video analysis to help athletes form a visual picture of them selves.

Competitions

All athletes will compete in the Ruapehu Freestyle Series and selected athletes will travel to Junior National Freeski and Snowboard Championship at the end of the Season.

Equipment

All athletes must have boots, board/twin tip skis, helmet and all weather clothing.

We also recommend the following additional protective gear:
